After talking about doing a garden together for years, the time had finally come for MOM and I to plant our garden together. We had all but given up on it working out this year with all of the problems of COVID. BUT FINALLY for the first time in 2020, and the FIRST time during quarantine, Karl took a weekday off. That meant I could leave the kids with him, and leave the house for a period of time in the morning.
Mom and I met up at 7:30 at Home Depot. Dad ended up coming along too. It was his first outing since the COVID, and it was a rough time. NO ONE was wearing masks and it was pretty stressful. Dad bought stuff to do a drip system in the garden and we got some plants too! Also some flowers.
We went to cooks and got soil, and then back home. Dad left and we got to planting. We started with potting flowers in pots. I planted a little herb garden. TWO more flower pots that went on the front porch, and five on the back porch.
My plan for our garden boxes. Mom is taking a big one. I have the one in the front yard, and a little one that gets SO fried.
I’m writting this five days after these were planted, and they are all DEAD already, despite getting planted and watered and tended the same way as everything else.
We weeded the boxes out, and then planted.
Mirah planted her starters. (Which are the ones that died in the box 🙁 )
Mom is so cute, and so excited to have her very own little garden spot.
Then we planted out front.
It looks so clean and nice, and like it took no work, but it took SO long. Well, 4 hours.
