In an effort to feel better after our puppy , we invited Malia over for the weekend. We played games, and had breakfast burritos and basically just had a nice time.
My mom had been invited to come and see the fireflies at her friend’s farm in Springville. We parked and walked a quarter mile to the farm.
It was a warm June evening, but we were told that in the wet fields it would be chilly. It is still the time of COVID, so we had masks on to keep us safe.
Since mom had gotten the invite, she of course came. Malia came too since she was in town. The walk tot he farm was lovely. Disturbed only by the Confederate flag flying on a farm on our way out.
Beautiful mom, in her element.
Our family!
It was so quiet and peaceful out there.
We arrived, and masks up!
We were the first to arrive, and the kids had fun saying hi to the animals.
We got seated as the others slowly arrived.
There was lots to enjoy at the old farm house.
We bough shirts for the kids.
And Lucas enjoyed finding bugs and getting all dirty.
We socially distanced in this outside event.
There was SO much discussion about weather or not we should go, but we decided that the risks were low, and we were wear masks.
Terry got up and started the presentation.
We went around and introduced ourselves, we were all from the Imperial Valley! In one way or another.
Terry then told us all about the farm, and about the land and her ansestors that came and settled here. It was a pretty long presentation. It was the price we had to pay to see the fireflies.
We went out the the fields, and there they were, little specks of bio luminescent light.
The kids were in heaven. It was so much fun to run through the fields and see them glow. We even were able to catch a few.
BUT as you can see photography was tough.
It was a magical night!
