Happy Birthday to Karl!!!!!
It was Sunday, so it started out the same as most Sundays. Church, then tablets.
I made Karl his favorite, breakfast sandwich: Two poppy seed bagel tops with cream cheese, bacon, two perfectly cooked over medium eggs, and garden fresh tomato.
Then it was time to open his one morning gift. I had let him open one last night. He got too excited to wait last night, so I let him open one: It was a salad spinner.
His morning gift: remote meat temperature takers.
My mom and dad dropped by, and dad even came inside! They gave him a gift card and this sweet card.
Dinner was to be Karl’s favorite thing: dumplings. We sat together and made them and laughed together.
Not surprising, Karl was the best of us at making these. More unexpected Mirah was the next best, then me, then Lucas.
While the dumplings were cooking, the kids gave Karl their gift:
Then dinner time!! Pretty perfect meal.
I had out sourced Karl’s birthday cake to Malia. And she of COURSE did not disappoint. Karl had asked for a poor man’s cake with gnash. She made this amazing cake topper. SO amazing”
She loaded the cake in the car…and it melted a bit in the sun on the drive in the Porche.
It also slid around in the car…but it turned out amazingly.
Then Betsy and the kids arrived! They wanted to play with Luna.
Then we opened gifts. Malia got him these awesome shoes.
He then opened the rest of our gifts. We got him a mortar and pestle.
Then came Karl’s best gift! A Kan Knife, just like Kenji has!
Our friend Barney Lund makes them, and he hooked us up with a sweet deal!
He went right in and started slicing tomatoes.
