We arrived at South Fork Park, in the mid afternoon, right after school got out. The moment we arrived Lucas and Luna were off like a shot looking for things to get into.
We had barely set our things down, when Lucas kicked off his boots and got into the water.
This is Lucas in his natural habitat.
A ways up the river, Mirah was having a ball too.
Races across the stream.
After splashing about a bit, Karl got out his RC Car, and Luna was in her happy place of runny wild after it.
Let’s take a Luna break. What a lovely little lady she is. (You can tell she had already taken a little dip into the water.)
While that was happening, the kids hopped up a tree, and got climbing as high as they could go.
The light was harsh, so it was tough to get a good picture, but you can see on their faces that they are having a ball.
Meanwhile…
I thought we had gone to the park to sit and snack and enjoy the beautiful day in the shade, everyone else was there for the adventure.
I sat down for a while, but they were everywhere, getting in and out of the water. Picture proof I was there, because no one else was going to take my picture. BUT I did get in the water, and of course fretted over the kids and the dog. (Only seeing the pepper in my teeth now, yikes)
After while we sat down and snacked. We brought some of the watermelon from our garden. It had big seeds in it, that we spit into the stream. I tried to get a picture where they were looking at me…not one worked out, but each is cute in it’s own way.
Lucas just wanted to be in the water, so finished his snack in the water.
A boy and his dog.
My crazy cutie puppy.
We wanted to do some adventuring, so we took everything back to the car, put shoes back on, and headed down the trail.
Luna jumped all the way in after her ball.
Lucas wanted to go in after her.
But then he found a tree, and the water would have to wait for a minute.
Luna was loving walking through the crunchy leaves. She loves being outside.
Back into the water we went, this time in our shoes.
Â
The across a tree bridge.
Then through a path full of burs that filled little Luna’s feet and fur.
Then back in the water to cross to the right side of the river.
Mirah and Lucas strolling on a fall day:
Lucas was having trouble listening, and so we had to talk about it which made him grumpy. But he did much better the rest of the time, so the talk worked.
We sat down on the this hill, and Karl drove his car some more, and Luna had a ball. The kids rolled down the hill and everyone was just totally filthy at this point.
Finished the snacks, had some snuggles…
Luna running after the car in slow mo:
A family shot, to finish the outing, we all had such a fun time.
The fall colors are in full swing, and it was such a fun way to enjoy them.
Back at home, we got DP Cheese Steak for dinner, and finished the watermelon.
It was bath night for all of us.
This sounds and looks like such a fun family outing. I keep looking at Lucas and thinking how much fun he will have when y’all visit. There are so many trees and streams for him to play in!
