The leaves are turning, and the weather is perfect! We wanted to get out and see what we could see. We drove up to the Battle Creek Trail head.
The trail was lovely, there were people out, but never too many that we couldn’t socially distance. We also brought masks just in case. The hike was pretty steep though, and the kids, especially Lucas, got tuckered out pretty fast.
Before long we found ourselves alongside the creek.
The steepness of the trail got us to beautiful views quickly.
Fall was golden.
Another stop found us a ways up on a rock.
Then across to a different rock a little further off the trail, and out of the way of people.
Further up the kids found a little “cave.”
The water lured Mirah in…
And soon we were at the waterfall! There was a family repelling over the top down by the falls. The kids were excited to get their feet wet.
Despite the begining of fall, the water wasn’t too bad. The day was warm, so this shady little area was paradisiacal.
Luna was in heaven. It took lots of effort to make her not drink the stream water.
Karl and the waterfall.
Lucas was off leash and wanted to stay that way. Karl finally grabbed her.
Swinging in the trees.
Oh, BTW- I was there! I took some selfies to prove it.
Luna, wet and muddy and happy.
We headed back down, and the kids got a better shot in the cave. This time, Lucas got dust in his eyes.
The dust was mostly kicked up by Karl driving his RC car down the hill. Luna was going nuts.
Further down, we made our way to the trailhead.
We did it!
We stopped and had some snacks at the Kiwanis Park near the trailhead.
Such a fun time. We are excited to get out and do it again soon.
