Okay no, not at all.
How we ended up at the U2 concert in SLC on a weeknight is a story in itself, because we sure didn’t buy the tickets.
Karl won them at work for being a ninja. He was nominated three times for Odo. (A weekly award given to one person at Qualtrics for doing the coolest thing that week.) I guess it isn’t a very long story.
Tuesday rolled around and we drove up to SLC and got on the Traks near the U.
Karl tried to hide from the sun.
The weather was perfect, and that was lucky…
Because we were going to be outside for hours.
We waited in a giant line because the tickets were general admission on the field.
The absolute worst part was next. 2 hours of waiting on our feet while these super annoying people we were standing next to. Especially this guy:
His voice was PIERCING.
We were super close to the stage. This is an example:
Finally at 7:15, The Fray were on.
Issac Slade
Joe King on guitar and vocals and Ben Wysocki on drums rockin’ out!
There were some girls at the top of the stadium having a good time too.
Seriously the screen was so huge.
The Fray’s set was done before Eight. Then the set up started for the next hours and a half. Check out these light guys getting hoisted up:
They were strapped in:
After the light guys were all lifted up into all four arms of the stage the screen started talking to us:
Karl liked this one: Number of pixels:
Then came Bono and the Edge Dave Evans.
Bono and this guy, Adam Clayton.
It was just a spectacle. There is no other way to explain it. Moving bridges, and screen that separates, and really loud music.
More pictures:
We were seriously so close.
The clearest picture of the night.
This part of the stage looks like the super villain, GLAdos from the Portal game on PS3, Karl and I just passed. We thought we were going to be forced to do experiments.
One for the blog.
We were so hungry we stopped at Chillies on the way home to get some well earned food. Our backs and feet were dead from standing for 6 hours.
It was a great time. If you have a chance to see U2 and you have free tickets, you have to go.
