After out lost boys slumber party we had to go on an adventure! Off to the Hogel zoo!
We were the first people in the park that day.
We got to see the little giraffes come out that day.
We got to see the lions sitting alert in the sun.
What do you think that they are looking at?
COVID- haha, we just took the picture, no touching.
My kiddos and the lions.
These kids are getting so big!
Cub prints.
Karen, in her elephant spot. She said she takes a picture here every time she comes.
The pea fowl were out, and looking beautiful that morning.
GORILLA!
Another traditional photo stop.
There were new animals at the zoo: Warthogs and Meerkats. (Well the meerkat enclosure is new, they were in another area of the zoo)
My little Meerkat.
These little cuties were one of the highlights of the day for me. They were so active and CUTE!
We found another one!
We came around the top of the park to the Asian cat area, and wow, the tiger was AWAKE!
So cool!
Tiger pose!
They had just fed a different tiger, they gave him a whole rabbit…he was eating it up.
It was pretty gruesome.
Moving on…to Mirah’s favorite animals, the seals.
(BUTT)
It is so fun to watch them swim and swim right past the window.
We just couldn’t get enough.
No polar bears right now… they are out on loan to another zoo or something.
SEAL!!
Seal riders.
These kids could not be slowed down!
Otter-ly cute.
Another active animal! The otters were swimming all over the place.
The kids attempted a photo shoot by the rhino…
It really didn’t work out.
After some wondering AND discovering that they had CANCELLED the bird show we decided to take a ride on the carousel.
We found the PERFECT line of animals!
A penguin. The animal Lucas wanted to see at the zoo that day, but that they don’t have.
A seal Mirah’s favorite animal.
And a wolf, Karen’s spirit animal.
Cutie girlies.
They even had an okapi! My favorite!
Krysta stayed on solid ground,
We were off!
(These little cuties always make me laugh)
My favorite shot of the day.
No elephants today.
The Small Animal enclosure was one of our favorite stops of the day.
Krysta and Lucas…buddies for life.
I found his head!
There are three snakes on the left. And an Armadillo!!!
WE found the red pandas. They were so cute. They look like Luna when she sleeps.
We stopped for a snack and regroup
We felt like we had seen everything, so we started heading towards the exit, but not before saying hi again to those little cuties the Meerkats.
THEN checking out the gorilla family! The baby!!!!!! What a freaking cutie pie!
Headed out.
We finally saw the warthogs.
We took a long stop in the gift shoe where each kid got one item. Karen got a wolf toy. Lucas got a tiger’s tail, and Mirah got a new hat. I got a new bag. 🙂
We saw this guy on the drive home and talked all about out favorite parts of the zoo.
We sat and looked at picutres when we got home, we had a really great day.
The puppies seemed to have a great time while we were gone.
Sometimes having your own little animals at home is even better than visiting crazy wild animals at the zoo.
