So as some of you may know, we support the Provo Bike Committee. This week we a really awesome week for bikes here in town. Again, some of you may know that May is National Bike Month. So Provo city has made it bike week, and there were tons of great events.
We didn’t attended every event because we were sick and it rained ALL week. We went were we could though.
Monday:
Mad Dog Cycles has a family ride every Monday evening, and we were on it. We met at the Provo shop on 900 East and headed up Canyon to Magelby’s for dinner. The group was pretty big that night night, biggest I have seen yet.
We meet up each week with the group from the Orem Mad Dog shop at different restaurants. The cool thing is that every adult meal that you buy, you get a free kids meal. So if you are reading and you have kids, come. Every Monday night at 6 PM at the Mad Dog in Orem or Provo.
Dinner was of course great. We even got a free kids meal, chicken strips, yum! The ride out was beautiful, but by the time we got started on the ride home, it had turned cold.
I did what I could to keep warm.
Tuesday:
Tuesday morning was UTA bike to work day. It was a really great event. The Mayor was there and he even lead a ride around the Joaquin neighbor hood.
Jamba Juice and Eistein Bagels catered. Macy’s had fruit trays it was yummy.
Provo bike committee was there of course, passing out pamphlets and telling everyone about all that weeks events.
Our friend Zac, was there getting information from cyclists in Utah Valley. Bingham Cycles was there giving free tune-ups. It was great.
I got a cold on Saturday night, so I was sick most of the week. Couple that with the fact that it rained all week, and I mean all day everyday all week, we didn’t end up attending
Saturday:
The first Provello of the year. The ride was going to be from the mouth of the canyon to the lake. Karl and I saddled up.
Krysta and I took the short route down.
As we did we noticed the effects of all the weeks rain.
Big portions of the path were closed because of flooding.
Me met up with the boys and the group that they had collected along the way.
TRIUMPH!
Waiting for the train.
Soon we were on the PRT, and the day was lovely. Here are Zac, his mini me whose name I didn’t catch and Karl. Seeing Zac and this kid ride together was so cute. It was like I was seeing Zac ride with a teenaged version of himself.
In along line, single filed behind us was the group. It was cool how many people turned out.
Me at the Lake.
Karl right after he took off his helmet.
We all got settled and had lunch. Again I just can’t stress how beautiful the day was.
The cool thing about Saturdays group is that they were from all ages. Families and all their children, young couples, college kids, and teenagers. It was a really great group.
Baby catfish! So little, but it already has whiskers.
Jordan put it in a water bottle he filled with lake water and gave it to one of the families there.
Karl and me.
Karl and I had to rush out because we had a ward temple trip. I heard there were tons of fun games like a track stand competition and stuff. What else went on guys? Tell me.
That night we went to dinner at SLAB. We were there with Devaine, Sam, Krysta, Zac and Karen. Karl was starving.
One last group shot!
Hooray for bike week, I am sad it is over.
