What time is it?
It was a beautiful weekend in the fall and Karl and I were headed up to Logan. We were starving, so we stopped at Texas Road House. What? It was on the way.
Smith and Edwards is pretty much the place where you can get almost anything. Including an insole, that you should not boil.
And rubber gloves that are not made for fire fighting (according to the label).
This one makes me think of my Grandpa Pipkin or my dad..
Then of course there was this…
Oh…my.
Another sweet shirt in the Wrangler Section.
Check out those pockets.
Then we were off to Logan. It was a really beautiful drive.
Why the trip to Logan?

MELANIE ONE
(Miss Melanie goes to the ball and turns 18)
The lovely Miss Melanie Hicken:
Mel and Dustin were all dressed up for Homecoming. It was also Dustin’s first date. Cutie. (Sorry Dustin.)
Below is Auntie Shirlene giving the first timers a pep talk. It was seriously so hilarious! She was giving them all the info. Everything from what to say to their dates’ fathers to chit chat talking points.
Then Melanie’s date arrived, and Uncle Greg got his gun. (Don’t worry, it was only a pellet gun.) I love how Melanie wasn’t even bothered by her father’s behavior.
While the kids were at the dance all the grown ups had steak at the house. After dinner, Talon, Nicole, Karl and I went over to the Village Inn for some pie.
The next day was Sunday. We went to Stake conference with Tal and Nicole and spent the afternoon with Melanie and Dustin watching Lord of the Rings. Dinner time came around and we had Mel’s favorite, grilled tenderloin and broccoli.
As you can tell by this pic, Melanie got her birthday wish.
The evening was finished off with delicious cheese cake topped with fresh fruit.
Happy Birthday Mel! I hope all your dreams came true. Congrats on becoming an adult.
MELANIE TWO
So Krysta and I had to part ways for the first time on our monthly 5k. Mine was called Miles for Melanie. The event was an all star event for an avid runner in the community named Melanie. Mother of four. Really cute lady. Check out her blog.
It was freezing! I didn’t even bring a sweater. Check out who I spotted with my little eye!
The Mayor of PROVO! For those of you who don’t know, I get star struck really easily.
Moments later, Melanie herself arrived. The race’s start and finish was at a church that I assumed was her ward’s meeting house. Hundreds of people were there. It was cool. I kind of felt like I was trespassing on a stake activity.
Final spotting..
(I looked it up, I don’t think thats really them…probably)
I was really lonely, so I made Karl come with me and freelance the race. He got blister (No socks). We finished in a shamefully long time, but the ride home was made a little more pleasant by the sight of this hot air balloon just above us at 700 N and 700 E.
The End, with a double rainbow all the way!
I heart your posts! And I heart you!
HEllo!! YOu do know that I worked in that village inn forhmmm..off and on for about 8 years or so. So crazy. I love Logan. We just moved to Kaysville and would love to see your face sometime.
ps. You look great!
