We had a rare, mid week date last night. We went to Taste in Provo. It was a Qualtrics sponsored event with lots of Qualtrics employees and their significant others there to enjoy.
We got nine different dark chocolates to taste. Two were milk chocolate, but they were still over 58% cacoa. Karl was in heaven.
There were 4 steps to tasting these fancy chocolates.
- Observe it, check out the SHEEN. If it has been properly tempered, it will have a sheen.
- Snap it in half, and smell it. Try and identify notes of…fruit or whatever.
- Put the chocolate on our tongue and let it melt and coat your tongue.
- FINALLY you can chew it, and eat it, and imagine what you might be tasting. 😉
During the tasting we learned all about what makes a good chocolate. This is a coco pod.
Then we went on a factory tour.
Those pictures on the right side are gigantic bars of chocolate!
The beans, being ground, and shucked, and separated.
The left image below is where they the temper chocolate.
Chocolate bits.
Qualtics ordered the OX chocolates, custom.
After the tour, we had dessert.
