Inspired by a long past request from Lucas and a gift of a dumpling maker from my mom (not used btw) we decided to make dumplings at home as a part of our Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year) Celebration.
We made 3 different types of dumplings, two different ways each.
Before we pan fried them or steamed them however, we needed to make the stuffings. Here is Karl’s station, with lemon grass, cilantro, green onions, garlic sprouts, garlic, ginger, and proteins ready for their different uses and configurations.
Here is the scallop and shrimp dumpling stuffing ready to be mixed.
Karl also mixed a pork dumpling and a chicken dumpling.
Krysta and Karen arrived just in time, to help fill and stuff all of the dumplings.
The only kid interested in helping stuff was Lucas, and that was pretty short lived.
It went really fast, especially with all three of us working together.
Things came together.
And a dinner of dumplings was served. Each person had a dipping bowl of their own, to mix a dip just for themselves. I had chili crisp, fried garlic, soy sauce, and dumpling sauce. YUMMMMMMMM
After dinner was cleaned up we made lantern for the Lantern Festival this week.
Krysta was the MVP of the night. She help Lucas and Karen make their lanterns, I only made my own. Karl made his and helped Mirah.
Thank heavens for Krysta.
When lanterns were all done, we had hot coco and cinnamon toast for a treat.
Mirah passed her good luck red envelopes she made herself for each of us.
It was getting late, time for goodbyes and then bed! Here we are with all of our lanterns!!
Happy New Year!!
