Mirah has had lots of stuff going on lately. Poor thing has been loosing sleep. Now that we are on the other side of it, I am just so glad. SO she had her A.L.L. (Advanced Learning Lab) testing this weekend. She said she did well. She has been really nervous about it. The prospect of moving schools is a pretty scary one. She is pretty well decided she wants to stay in Chinese. HOWEVER, we wanted to do the testing.

Here she is, I got her all logged in, and said goodbye as she started her 4 hour testing block.

She said it went well, we will find out around spring break how it went.

School in general is going really well for Mirah. We had a great parent teacher conference. He teachers both love her. She was specially assigned as class president while they were gone for conferences, because her teacher knew she could trust her to do a good job. (CUTE)

Mirah did a little self evaulatioin, and one of the few areas she felt she did poorly in was studying for spelling every day. But I mean, she always get 100%, and I just don’t want to spend the time practicing  words she already knows:

(By the time I posted these she had TWO more perfect scores on spelling. This kid.) Her teacher wrote her a note saying she only needed to practice the ones she didn’t know.

She is speeding through her Lexia levels like a boss. She is almost through 15 now.

I found her star student page, its really cute. I wrote it down as she dictated to me.

Mirah’s Chinese teacher told us she is doing really well in Chinese, and that she is one of the top in her class as far as ascent and pronunciation. Here is some of her work, I LOVE to see her Chinese writing.

The school does lots of Chinese Celebrations, and the Lantern Festival was a great time this year.

 

Mirah is having fun in Primary class too. She had a smaller class this year, taught by two dad’s of her friends. Ryan Felberg (Tess’s Dad) and Steven Broadbent (Ty’s Dad)

 

We worked for a week cleaning out Mirah’s room. Blessedly it is done. And these are some of the things we found. Our agreement about her art is that we will take pictures, then throw it away, unless it is too important. Here are some of the things we found:

 

We had a whole Halloween section. This one I think I have shared before:

I love to see her series of art around the same time. It gives me incite into the inner workings of her mind.

This is one we have been holding on to since 1st grade…

She loves her dad. I especially love this one of the right. Karl was a little choked up when he saw it.

She’s doing these portraits of girls. They had these funny eyes that Karen taught her.

Some pieces are just random, I think she was trying to teach Lucas how to read with this one.

 

Her favorite animal is still a seal.

She got a set of oil paints, pastels, and other art supplies from Grandma Hite at Christmas, and has really been exploring these mediums.

 

The mixed media of crayon, and water color on construction paper is my FAVORITE things she has done recently. It is so this moment. But still so beautiful. Im going to frame it. It is her second grade self. Mermaid, in the sea, I’m surprised  there isn’t a seal somewhere.

She still is making book, but they are more sophisticated, and themed. She just sits in her room and makes these little books, its so cute. Like this one:

She is trying to categorize things.

Still so little, so funny, so cute and sweet. But smart and thoughtful and creative. Perfect little girl.
