It was a villa:
We headed back down the hill to the pool.
It was a really nice lagoon style pool.
We swam, and lounged. We went and saw the tropical bird cage. Then checked out.
There are a bunch of restaurants and shops alone the three in a town on the way back to San Juan. We stopped there to do some shopping and try to get a bite to eat.
We got an icee drink and got litte things for our friends and family.
Many of the places had tons of this deep fried mess:
I don’t know what this one was called, but it was a mashed potato wad, with ground beef in the middle, deep fried. Yum. It was the cheapest way to get potatoes. A gallon of milk was $6 and we tried to buy a baked potato at Dino’s, and it was $7.
Lots of bottles finished off on the ground as we walked. The drinking age is 18 in PR. It was weird to see bilboards advertising alcohol with teenagers on it.
Around the back of the building there was a sweet beach, we took a walk.
We got a little lost trying to find a Redbox kiosk, but we found this beautiful place.
We also found this one:
It was fun to go into a restaurant that we knew pretty well and to see what was new and different there.
The tripple patty chicken parm, was one of Karl’s most favorite!
Also this little number called the tripleta. It has ham, bacon, and steak.
As the election day came around, and we kept getting caught in rally’s on the road. There was this sign, that I was super curious about. I found out when I got home, after election day, that it was a vote to see what the people of PR wanted as far as becoming the next US state.
These people were against it.
Well we got to San Juan, parked and the car. We jumped on a free bus up to the light house at the other end of the island. Mirah loved the bus.
Before we went up to the Light house, we changed Mirah’s diaper, on a park bench. This was just one of many odd places that we changed her diaper during the trip.
Other places included:
1. On our laps on the air plane.
2. On a ferry
3. On a seat in fornt of a bunch of a bunch of people in the terminal.
4. On the beach, while one held the other put the diaper on.
I nursed in just as many crazy places. Including:
1. In a restaurant
2. On the edge of a boat.
3. On the beach with no cover.
I guess I am over it.
Poor Karl’s legs are covered in bug bites.
We made it. Mirah was happy about it.
It was very similar to the other fort. It was better maintained, and nicer.
Karl noticed he would never had fit in those tiny beds.
Up the ramp to the light house.
We found a Mirah sized entrance…
Looking over the view of the city.
Turrets.
We left El Morro, and got totally caught in the rain.
It was so warm, non of us minded at all.
A statue of the mad who build the first school in the Dominican Republic. And his bum.
We wandered Old Town, went shopping some more, and just enjoyed the view.
We found this place that was PR food.
Our servers.
We got our last frozen drinks.
The place was had ac, which we usually would enjoy, but we were still soaked from getting caught in the rain!
Mirah was the first to be really bothered by it. So I wrapped her in a scarf. Then she got hungry. We were alone in that part of the restaurant, so I did it, I fed her.
She did a little better once she was fed.
She was entranced by this man.
Our food arrived. I had dirty rice with the meat.
Karl had fried pork chops and french fries.
By the end of dinner, Mirah was totally tapped out.
We headed to our hotel, a little place right on the beach, and passed out.
Another great/ long day.
