SO-The day before Lucas was to start school, both the kids were sick. Lucas especially. He had lethargy, a fever, a runny nose, a little cough, and was sick to his tummy. Mirah was sick too. Similar symptoms, no fever. I was sick too. Same symptoms. This was going to make it so, not only did Lucas have to miss his first TWO days of school, BUT Mirah had to miss school too. With everything her school was missing on getting safety measures in place I was horrified, but not surpised the kids were sick after only ONE week of school. Since their sympotms sounded like COVID-19, we had to get them tested before we could come back to school. SO, we took them into the doctor office. It was so terrible, and Lucas was so crazy (he punched the doctor in the face during his nose swipe even though I was holding him down with my whole body) I didn’t get any picture of the experience.
BUT two days late, with a negative COVID test, Lucas was looking GREAT, and ready for school.
Oh my goodness I love this kid!
Back pack and water bottle ready to go!
Lucas has afternoon class, so he has lunch before he goes. His lunch of choice on the first day was Spaghetti Os!
Karl came along for the drop off. Oh my heart. I am getting emotional writing this…
Wearing his new sugar puppy skull mask from Grandma Pippy.
Here he is with his teacher Mrs. Martin.
Sanitizing as he went in!
He came out…with his Listening Ears on! (Waaaawaaa *crying noises from cuteness*)
Mirah was there too, Luna came along to pick up the kids.
It’s tradition after Mirah’s first day of school to go to Sodalicious to get popcorn and cookies while she tells me all about the day. Since we already did that last week, I got the kids cupcakes at home while they told me about their days. They were fancy cupcakes from Harmons. Lucas’s was Orange Dreamsicle, and Mirah’s was Red velvet with Cream cheese and white chocolate frosting.
Lucas said that they read a book about a little bunny who kept having trouble listening and it kept getting him into trouble. He said he had fun, and loved his class and teacher. He like recess the best, and he said he was the only one wearing their masks.
He was so happy, and all he wanted to do was to go to school.
