Here we are on harvest day back in September. These are all the pumpkins we grew in our very own garden. This is the FIRST year we didn’t get pumpkins from a pumpkin patch, a neighbors yard, or a store.

The weather had turned FREEZING overnight. Our pumpkins had FROZEN on our porch! We brought the pumpkins in first thing in the morning so that we would have hope of carving them that night for FHE.

We had a fun spooky Halloween dinner, any guesses?

I used this recipe given to us by one of our favorite food Vloggers: Chef John.

Karl was really successful I think.

He made himself a very good one.

Dinner was served, and the kids were being SPOOOOOOOKY to match.

The meatloaf balls were YUMMY!

After our very spooky dinner it was time to see if our pumpkins were unfrozen enough to cut.

Yes, the pumpkins had turned into some kind of frozen jello. They were the easiest pumpkins we ever carved. I just don’t know how long they will last. Halloween is on Saturday!

Karl and I got the last two BIG pumpkins. So we had lots of space to work with. Karl gave his sun glasses, a mustache, and a sole patch.

 

We couldn’t find our little tea lights, so we used this candles from food storage instead.

I never got a good shot of mine, but here are the kids-FREEZING out front.

This morning I went out to check on our pumpkins. It was 20 degrees outside, but google said it feels like 12. So it was cold. One pumpkin even had an ice patch on top.

 

My pumpkin had shut her mouth a but over night. These shots are great because you really can see some of the details on the jack-o-lanterns in this light.
