A couple of things to begin. I am from the Imperial Valley. Home of Imperial Valley Mid Winter Fair. Every February or March the fair arrives. With all the things that a fair brings. A list that I will not attempt to make simply because I am about to tell a story of a fair, that will cover most of those things that happen at fairs.
As an adult things were different than when I was I child. Fisrt of all, I had actual money so I could enjoy the food and fun like never before. Second, none of my friends or family were in the fair for anything like animals, cloths, or food entries. Finally, it wasn’t my fair at all. It was the Clark County Fair in Logandale NV. Krysta was always talking about the fair. She had gone every day it had ever been open pretty much since she had been alive, until recently anyway. We all decided to go together this year. We left for Moapa Valley after work on Thursday. We finally made it there and crashed at Zach’s mom’s place for a couple of nights.
Friday Morning bright and early we made it to the fair.
Krysta and my feet. We both have the same kind of Chacos. I copied her, just for the record.
There are just a million things for sale there most of them are hilarious, and many of them are totally useless.
Like this wall of luchador masks.
A table full of suger skulls.
A wall of t-shirts.
Then there were the belt buckles.
Yes, to name a few here: A vampire face, a grenade, and a chainsaw that says “old gory.”
And more:
A wad of 100 paso bills and a confederate flag that doubles as a bottle opener,.
A gun, in a holster.
Then there was this one:
Yikes.
We of course went to the children’s center for science.
It was turning out to be a beautiful day, all be it windy. All this browsing made us hungry.
FAIR FOOD!!!
Zac had a Texas twister. He was kind enough to offer me the first sip. (Knowing that I prefer not to share with anyone but Karl.)
Check this place out.
The vendor was very enthusiastic.
There was so much fried corn bread.
YUM!!!
This guy loves his job.
There were these awesome singers circulating thorough the fair.
This is Karen dancing to the music.
We decided to take this chance to get a fair food staple:
Funnel Cake.
There were of course rides there, but since we just got back from Disneyland, we were not super into them.
So Zac went home, Krysta and Karen went to the Rides, and we went to:
That’s right, the pig race.
As the races were about to begin, a man walked around the crowd and sold little piggy noses for a dollar a piece. We bought two.
The piggies were out, and of course there was swifty the swimming pig.
He needed some gentle encouragement, but he did it.
The races went something like this:
the little guys ran down the ramp,
around the track,
It was really fun.
Then of course there was Chocolate the baby piggy.
Even cuter in this little girls arms.
After the pig races we headed over to another fair staple: Old time pictures.
A shot of the booth.
A picture of our picture.
Something new to me:
Poseidon’s bubbles.
We spent some time on a race track:
Karl was a winner.
This sign obviously lured us over:
baby animals.
Lil’ Sebastian!
He was so soft.
As we walked past a Dairy display a butter carving contest caught our eye.
Yes, we were the only competitors over the age of 12.
My plate and tools.
I gave Karl the Idea, of Butter fingers.
I made a butterfly.
Karl was really excited about his hand.
Apparently he was justified in his excitement because he won first prize!
Here he is accepting his ribbon.
We did more walking around, and saw this guy on an awesome penny farthing.
We left for a break around 5. We were totally exhausted, Karen and I had a nap together.
We went back to Zac’s moms house, changes and relaxed, and got ready for the Rodeo.
also how did we miss gettin pictures of the torture that was the drive down in that crazy weather? That was such a good trip and I am glad to say we are still friends after being squished in a car (that was sometimes smelly) for 12 hours.
Congrats on your big win, Karl! Also, Little Sebastian! Nice!!!
