It is late October and you know what that means?
Time to head back to Jaker’s to get some pumpkins. (The above pic is from our visit in 2008)
This year we decided to go by bike!
Isn’t Karl looking so skinny??!!
It was Karl and Me, Krysta Zac and Karen, and of course, Graham.
This is Graham, with his new orange fixed gear.
This is Graham rolling up his right pant leg. This is his second try. He did his left one first.
After many incidents and accidents we were off, like my mom used to say, like a herd of turtles.
Then, came the train. We had to wait 10 minutes while a train slowly went along. Graham was about to try and walk his bike through when the gait finally went up.
The ride to Springville is beautiful. The whether was mid 50’s, perfect for a long ride.
I think that’s a unicorn in the background. The ride was that magical.
We went out early so that we could have breakfast at one of the local diners in Springville. Well after several calls, we finally found a place that opened at 11:30.
The Art City (that is Springville Utah, if you didn’t know) Trolley
Two shots of all of us.
We waited outside for a half hour. Talking, listening to music. Taking pictures.
Here is one of me and Karen, in the Telephone booth, making a phone call or two.
Time went by slowly, but we were excited to support a local place and have some Springville only food.
SMILE!
Whitmore family group hug!!
We came around the back, at 11:30, and the door was locked. We called inside and they said that they didn’t open until 12:00. We were really frustrated and Karl said some choice words for them. So much they actually let us in.
Then it got awkward. The hostess let us in. We were seated. Then the server got in. He yelled at us and told us that they weren’t open until 12:00. So we left, assured that if we ever did get food, we would all get ill from spit or poop.
Yeah, awesome.
We are Friends!
What, Karen just wanted some ice!
Karl and I were totally starving after that ride, and no Breakfast so we went all in!
An hour passes, we are well fed and happy:
WE FINALLY MADE IT TO JAKER’S!
This year they had a petting zoo, and a baby Kangaroo!
Other new features:
A corn pit to stand in and a Hay pyramid.
Then the pumpkin finding began!
We always start with the little ones.
Speaking of little ones here is Karen, holding a pumpkin that she picked herself!
Karl, cutting his very own.
We also met our friends Alicia, Adam and Kendra out there.
Once the gathering had commenced, Karl sat, pondering our selections.
One for the Christmas Card?
Then back to the petting zoo, becasue whatever Karl says, he loves baby animals.
The sudden realization that Graham’s bike had found it’s home.
One last shot. Zac with his pumpkin on his rack, all ready to go for the trip home!
What a fun day. And, speaking of skinny, look at you. Hurrah for both of you.
Ditto to Grandma Denny's comment! Hugs!
Guys we are so bummed we didn't get to go this year. Like crying about it bummed. 🙁
