I had been away all day helping at the volunteer luncheon. I thought that MAYBE I would spend an hour, but no one else showed up, so I ended up being there for HOURS.
So when party prep began again, it was ALL hands on deck.
Krysta and Karen arrived, and Karen wrote Mirah a birthday note on the board.
Malia and the boys arrived-with the cake!
I mean look at this thing! It was magnificent!
Thank you so so so much Aunt Malia!
Krysta helped me get decoration up, and we got the tables all set.
Ready for our first activity, decorating #7 cookies!
I had run out of time, so Krysta ran to the store and got ingredients for frosting, then made the frosting! At great personal expense.
By then the kids had started arriving, I turned on Lego Movie 2 as a sort of calm gathering activity.
Nearly everyone came! Cooper was MIA (he arrived as the party was ending, some kind of time mix up) and then the Murray Pipkin’s were fighting with naps and traffic, so they didn’t make it.
Once the gang was there, we started cookie delectation.
But not before everyone got outfitted with their party gear. I was SO excited when I found these rainbow unicorn hats!
Here begins birthday party braid watch. It is here you can REALLY see it slipping down…keep and eye on it.
Asher, Judah, Ty, Mirah, Gray, Thea, and James.
Elsie, Easton, Mimi, Naomi, Aftyn, Karen, and Tess.
Lots of kids, but LOTS of help from Malia, Karl, and Krysta.
Asher, unable to resist. He ate his up right away.
And then there was my hilarious friend.
Oh my goodness I love her.
Picture time!!!
Here was when moving pieces began. While the kids waited in line for “Pin the Horn on the Unicorn” the pizza making station was open for business.
These kids were hilarious.
I think we made it too easy.
Inside again, Karl was at the counter, making pizzas to order for each child.
They baked quickly, and the watched more of the movie as they waited for their pizzas.
After Pizzas were done we ended up in the yard.
And it was time for Pinata!!!
RIP unicorn pinata.
Then cake.
Then presents.
Mirah’s friends were all very generous.
She got THREE unicorn tails!
Art kits, chemistry sets, and movies.
Candy of course. We gave Mirah two more gifts. A hand drawn Atalas book. I love it so much. And a trip to Lagoon, just the three of us.
AND at the end of the party, the braid finally fell!
There was a cake incident that was just with James.
And the party was over.
That night, after checking the mail, we found a comforting birthday love note from Grandma and Grandpa in the mail.
A pretty perfect birthday.
