School was back in session, and Lucas and I were getting back to our routine. We were ready to get out together after school one day, and we were so happy to take Landyn with us again. We went to the butterfly museum.
The boys were excited to get playing and we ended up spending like a half an hour over the course of the trip at this ant moving food station.
They moved the poop ball and looked closely at at the insects.
Lucas freaked out at the stick bugs.
Then we went into the butterfly enclosure.
First stop, my FAVORITE place in the room, all the cocoons! Landyn was worried one would land on him and die, but I showed him that they release hundreds of butterflies every day. They were meant to be interacted with. So with some anxiety he went to work trying to pick up a butterfly.
He got one!
Lucas saw another little girl with one in her hand, and started to warm up to the idea of holding a butterfly.
Landyn got another one, and Lucas was excited to look at it through his magnifying glass.
With a little help from me, he got one on his finger at last. I think I liked it, kind of.
“It’s huge mom!!!”
Some kids there were determined to cover themselves in butterflies. Like that boy in the grey shirt. My boys were happy to each have one.
Cheese.
Lunch at McDonalds afterwards, it was a great time.
