The Lavender Run/ Lavender Days

My alarm went off at 5:30 AM. On a Saturday…
Why would I get up at such an awful hour?
Answer: So we could get up, get the baby pack up, go pick up Betsy and get to Mona Utah on time. For Young Living’s annual Lavender Run.
And it tured out, Lavender Days.

There were a million people there already when we arrived at 7:30 AM. We only had to to park, get Mirah loaded up in the Bjorn and head over to the starting gate of the 5k. This year they added a half marathon to the docket, which explains some of the extra people. That race started a half hour earlier.
Here we are heading over from the car.

I was so tired. Mirah had been up to eat at 3 that morning, and then we had gone to bed late, and the got up early…I was sleepy.

The race was wonderful. There is this big hill that is about half of the course. But as they say, what comes up, must come down. 🙂 So then the other half coming back is down hill. The Lavender smelled amazing and the morning was wonderfully overcast and cool.
Our goal was to make it in less than an hour.
Which, as you can see from the clock behind me in the picture below, we were able to accomplish.
In our training over the past couple of weeks, we were able to do a 5k of about 58 and a half minutes.
New time to beat: 54: and a half minutes.

Betsy did it! With much more style than me!

Winning shot!
The metals on our necks say “Lavender Run Finisher” Neat. They also gave all the finishers a lavender plant. Pretty cool. I think we will plant our lavender plants in the gaden at the Reddoch’s house.

Karl took those pictures for us, and he and Mirah met us at the victors tent to eat the after race snacks.

After a little while, Nick and the boys arrived.
Nick said that they were going to be so cute, so when they arrived in little track suits for the occasion we all laughed out loud.

Betsy took their hoods off as soon as she got to them, freeing them!

As we sat and chatted about how cute they looked, and how tight the little outfits were. We realzed that they didn’t have any sox or shirts on under their track suits.
Karl said, so Mirah doesn’t have anything on under her onesie either:

We took a picture or two to show off their belly’s and chests! 🙂

Judah somehow made his way up onto the table for some extra banana.

I was feeling beat, and Mirah needed a change and some food so we decided to leave. Nitsy wanted to stay and see some of the other stuff that the farm had to offer, and so we parted ways.

Once Mirah was fed, changed and I had a chance to go to the bathroom, we felt much more ready to stay. So we headed back into the park in search of Nitsy and the boys.
Mirah passed out.

We got ahold of them, and they had left… 🙁
But we decided to look around anyway. There was a jousting tournment going on, so we headed over to check it out.
Our seats ended up being right behind the “King and Queen”

It was like a funny wannabe, less organized Medieval times.
With some snakes in the grand procession.

They did all kinds of tricks like cutting a cabbage with a sword in midair.
Photobucket
They threw spears, and hooked rings with lances and swords.
Then there was jousting!
Photobucket
There was one point where these two knights even got into some hand to hand combat!

We ended up leaving to get away from these terrible little “princes” that were apart of the royal court. It was a relief to finally go home.
Karl and I want to come back again next year, there is a ton of stuff to do out there. There are pony rides, and boat rides in the pond. You can feed the ducks from the bridge, and see an old west duel. There is play areas, and over prices food. But it is in Mona, so we will probably not be out again until next year, when Mirah is a little older.
