Rise and Shout the Cougars are Out!

So the last home game of the season, 2014.
After living in the Provo area for almost 8 years we finally made it to our first BYU football game.
It was a wet and cold day. As we drove to the stadium it was POURING rain. I turned to Karl and  said, “what are we doing?” But we had bought the tickets, we were out, we were committed, we were going.

We got Mirah a pom pom.  She LOVED it.

Our seats were in the South end zone HIGH above the field.
I got my first cougar tail and a bag of popcorn. !

A cougar tail is a footlong maple bar. YEAH. yum.

Great seats for a first timer.

It was wet and cold yes, but we were bundled.

The gang!

BYU was playing Souther Savannah University and BYU was MURDERING them.

Every time they scored the Cougar Fight Song was played by the band.

Rise and shout, the Cougars are out

along the trail to fame and glory.

Rise and shout, our cheers will ring out,

As you unfold your vict’ry story.

On you go to vanquish the foe For Alma Mater’s sons and daughters.

As we join in song, in praise of you, our faith is strong.

We’ll raise our colors high in the blue

And cheer our Cougars of BYU.

CHANT:
“Ra, ra, ra, ra, ra (3x) GO COUGARS!”
And then there was a real “Raw” of a cougar. THEN a cannon is shot off.
Additionally, the ROTC guys will do as many push ups as the whole score.
(Around 36 points they stopped. Because the touchdowns were so close together that they were doing 70 pushups in like a 5 minute period. Poor guys.)

But was would stand up and try to sing the song.

Ra ra ra ra ra GOOOO Cougars!!!

We were actually having a great time, and thankfully it wasn’t raining too badly.

We left when the score got too sad to watch.
(It ended in 64-0)
Here we are with the cougar.

I LOVE this picture.

The kids that night.

Little cuties.
