We cut the tour short, to go to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.

Where we had been learning about the ancient Pueblo Peoples, it was really cool to see the works of the modern Pueblo.

The area where we learned about their dances, was maybe my favorite part, especially watching Lucas try and dance along.

The pottery is just lovely. This one. painted with Yucca leave brush was just incredible.

IMG_3320.JPG IMG_3322.JPG

Then we got to the kids area, where you could build with blocks…and the kids spent nearly an hour there.

IMG_3328.JPG IMG_3327.JPG IMG_3329.JPG

It was just what we needed.

time to scream and play.

There was some fighting about who could build what, and some tears about my blocks and yours…but it was really fun.

Then we went to the gift shop and got the kids these juniper seed necklaces. Mesa Verde was full of Juniper trees. I love the smell of them when it rains. These necklaces are actually Navajo in origin, they are meant to ward off bad dreams.

After the museum. we took a walk to the Rio Grande, where Adam and Belle often walk.

IMG_3383.JPG IMG_3384.JPG

It was seriously so lovely. There were these cute little birds with white beaks in the ponds near the river.
