Hites on a Plane

So every year Karl and I make a list of family goals. They range from the normal stuff like, Save 20% of our income, or attend the temple twice a month or visit more Utah tourist sites, and so on and so forth. One of the Hite Goals, 2010, was to fly on a plane. Neither of us had done so, since our missions and it was time.
Karl flew out to Portland for an interview, and I stayed in Utah all year until Thanksgiving when we drove to Rexburg. So you can imagine how excited I was to win a trip, airfare included to Disneyland last year. We waited as long as we possibly could to go, the last week in January.
I was so FREAKING excited! Also about Disneyland, but hugely excited about just getting out of the cold and seeing California again. That’s right, twice in one month. We were going to see our families again, Nitsy had their babies so we were going to them in real life for the first time, we had the beach, and 5 whole days of no work and all play!

Our amazing, intelligent, gorgeous friend and practically sister Krysta drove us to the air port bright and early that Wednesday morning. Thanks Krysta, you and Zac are always there for us when we need you!

As we stood in line for the security check, my heart was racing.

No body scans, thank heavens. The line moved really quickly. We were able to have brunch which consisted of a Cinnabun and Sabarro pizzas, with time to spare.

A short wait later, and we were walking onto the plane!

It was close quarters in there, but Karl and I didn’t mind.

Also, we were seated right by the wing, it made a lot of really scary noises.

Take off was totally horrifying, but once we were in the air, above the haze, in the sun…oh my, it was stunning!

When we landed we spent that day with Betsy and the twins in the NICU, but that will be all covered in the next post.
We got to our hotel late, but it was really nice.

We love staying in hotels! Especially Karl, we have a queen at home, and sleeping on a king means his feet don’t hang over the end of the bed.

Flat screen TV and everything!

Early the next day we were awoken by the sun light:

This was the view from our hotel, that is the Disneyland parking lot, in front of a beautiful sunrise. It was just what I needed, a warm clear morning.
We stayed at the Red Lion, and it was a really great place. The pool was cold, and there was no hot tub, but everything else including the free breakfasts and parking were seriously so great.

Our rental, a Hyundai Elantra. I kind of want one now.

Thanks Heritage for all the great extras!
Then we were off!
