Boxing Day: Shepherd’s Pie & Die Hard the Musical

Ah Boxing Day, a day where we celebrate…boxing things. Since it’s a British holiday, we eat the only British recipe I know, Shepherd’s pie. And a very American version at that.

We made it using left overs, which is ver boxing day, I think.

Karl used his new Dutch Oven again.

We used left over mashed potatoes, steak, and frozen peas. Turned out pretty good.

As per our tradtion we pull crackers on Boxing Day instead of Christmas day, like the Brits.

After dinner we had a Yule Log for dessert. We got it from Fillings and Emulsions.

It was just alright. Maybe next year I will make one of my own.

After the kids were in bed, we watched the long awaited event:

DIE HARD, THE MUSICAL PARODY

Yes the very show that Landy and Sean do every Christmas together at the Fun House Lounge in Portland, we FINALLY got to see! Because of COVID the FunHouse has been closed, so they decided to do a virtual showing, and we all got tickets to watch together on December 26th. I told Landy, “I am so excited to finally see it! I’m not saying that COVID is worth it, but….” This made her laugh really hard and say that they will use the line to advertise. 🙂

Karl and I watced Die Hard earlier this week to prepare for the night, and it was scene for scene a lot of the time. Even with the Limo Ride from the airport. Sean was a great John McClain.

Oh MY GOSH, this bit got me so good. Sean’s goofy excited expression cracks me up. It was attention to these little details like a picture on Holly’s desk, that make this whole show so funny.

Landy FINALLY showed up as Hans Gruber, the first act takes forever 🙂

These two don’t get to be on stage much together. They are, but they don’t get to act off of one another face to face, they mostly take on “walkie talkies”
