Lucas is getting big. He is now 14 months old and he is getting a little ‘tude, and learning how to express himself. One thing that has really become developed is his ability to say “No.” But, not in the way you might think. Sure, he will say no, if he doesn’t want to go to bed, or if you take something away from him. But he also says it when he can tell by the tone of my voice that I am about to say it, or when he knows he has made a mistake.
The perfect example of this was the other day in the back yard.
We were outside, just hanging out.
He was drinking some water and playing with a spoon. He had been digging in the dirt with the spoon.
Rather than stop him, when he brought the spoon of dirt to his mouth, I photographed him instead.
The natural consequences of dirt in one’s mouth followed.
He is so cute. You can’t hear it, but you can see him wagging his finger “no”
Meanwhile saying “no” and me laughing.
Yes, we cleaned him up, washed out his mouth, and didn’t eat anymore dirt.
Love this little guy.
