Now that we’re a Quaren-team we got to have our annual tradition: Memorial Day BBQ with the Reddochs. We don’t get together EVERY year, but since they moved to town, we have been together most years:
This year, things were different. The kids were bigger, and we wanted to do something a little different. It was Betsy’s idea. A fun bike ride like years gone by. BUT not a hot dog and burger BBQ, but an amazing pizza BBQ. Karl made us 5 pizzas to order. The best one?
Elote Pizza:
Inspired by the Pizza that we got on Christmas Day in Mexico together:
We had salad and corn and watermelon. And SWIG. It was a pretty great meal. My kind of BBQ.
The kids only hated the BBQ pizza a little.
After lunch, it was time for a bike ride!
While play fighting with Rosy and Ginger, Rosy was sadly poked in the eye, but a devastated Karl. Luckily, Besty is sweet as can be, and was a foot away when it happened. She was able to get her a bit cheered up with snuggles and sunglasses.
Karl fixed up all the bikes so the ride could happen.
The kids all got helmets on and were ready to get out and bike!
Everyone was looking SO cute, I had to get a picture before we all set off!
Sweet wonderful Rosy was still feeling grumpy. BUT she did sit for the picture, which was very thankful for.
I love these kids. It was nice not social distancing for a minute.
It was a sunny breezy afternoon, the perfect day for a ride.
We even went by the boys school, and the new middle school.
Lucas was POOPED.
Half the group went on while Judah and Lucas and I stayed at the house. We went out and met up with them again, the youngest babies were having a hard time not playing at the park, and also, going SO slowly on the trail.
Once we were all back at the house KARL, again, made us all amazing Lime Mineral waters. It was pretty incredible. Like I want to drink them every day. Malia crushed up fresh cherries and we put them in too. The kids had pink lemonade with the cherry compote. It was pretty deluxe.
Malia had made these yummy cookies that all got inhaled by everyone after the ride.
We sat and chatted, and snacked and the kids played. It was about time to go, so we had a s’more roast on Malia’s new fire pit.
Everyone was beat.
Yes, we didn’t have Nick, or grilled chick, and we missed the cemetery, but it was a pretty perfect day.
